Thirteen Telgi aid sentenced to four years RI

A local court awarded four years rigorous imprisonment to thirteen aid of Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in multi-crore fake stamp scam, in Kolhapur.

A local court awarded four years rigorous imprisonment to thirteen aid of Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in multi-crore fake stamp scam, in Kolhapur.

Additional Session Judge A B Mahajan gave this judgment on Friday.

The convicts were arrested after an official of United India Insurance Company lodged a complaint against them for allegedly trying to sell him fake bond papers on December 17, 2001.

During interrogation they confessed to be aid of Telgi, who is also an accused in this case.

The chargesheet against 20 accused was submitted in the case out of which 13 confessed to their crime.

Telgi was not produced before the court as he is already facing a trial in another case in Bangalore.

The judge did not give any judgment about him saying that his case will be heard separately.
