The new patients of dengue were identified as Ajay Kumar (32), resident of Badagaon development block, Krishna Kumar (22), of Kaimoor in Bihar and Jaswant Singh, of Chandauli district. Dr. KK Gupta, in-charge of blood bank in BHU hospital, who is treating these three patients, confirmed that three patients of dengue were tested positive today.
District malaria officer, Dr BP Singh, who has been appointed as nodal officer of dengue, confirmed that three fresh dengue cases were reported from SS hospital in BHU today. He said as many as 100 health employees were roped in to contain possible spread of dengue in Varanasi.
He said a separate 10-bed ward had been set up at Shiv Prasad Gupta divisional hospital whereas a six-bed separate ward was set up at Deen Dayal government hospital in Pandeypur area. Dengue patients were extended free treatment in these hospitals.

Dengue is transmitted in the humans by Aedes Aegypti mosquito and this infectious disease is manifested by a sudden onset of fever with severe headache, muscle and joint pains.
