Manoj Kumar Rout, a student of a government primary school in Bhubaneswar, was accidentally locked in his classroom on Wednesday due to the alleged negligence of school authorities.

The boy's guardians got worried after he failed to return home in the afternoon. He was found sitting in a corner of the classroom when a teacher opened the door at 10 pm, an official said.

The district administration has transferred three teachers, including school head mistress Santilata Dei, for carelessness, a district education department official said.

However, the guardians of the boy are angry.

"The teachers should have been suspended," said Kuber Rout, the boy's uncle.

Manoj belongs to Badarupa village in Bhadrak district but lives with his uncle and aunt in Bhubaneswar.
