Three persons arrested in Mahuliatand naxal attack case

Three persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with the recent Naxalite attack at Mahuliatanad village in the district that left 10 policemen dead.

Three persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with the recent Naxalite attack at Mahuliatanad village in the district that left 10 policemen dead.

Three persons including Rambhuj Ravidas, a sarpanch of Mahudar panchayat and Jamuna Ravidas, a resident of Tisri police station limits of Giridih district were arrested, Superintendent of Police Nishant Tiwari said.

A guard of Mahuliatand village, where the incident took place on February 9, was also arrested, he said.

The police have also detained ten persons in this connection. Their names were, however, not divulged.

The police had on Wednesday lodged FIRs against four Maoists and about 150 unknown Maoists in connection with the Mahuliatand case.

Those who were booked in the FIR were- Lalpur head Ajit Yadav, his body-guard Rambhuj Ravidas, Sarpanch of Mahudar panchayat and Jamuna Ravidas, a resident of Tisri police station of Giridih district.

Ajit Yadav and his body-guard were absconding, the police said.

On Monday last, over 200 maoists ambushed a police team killing ten policemen, including SI Rameshwar Ram, SHO of Kauakaul police station and ASI.
