Tight security ahead of Aug 15

The police have started making security arrangements ahead of Independence Day. The police commissioner has asked officials to maintain a cordial relationship with the public and help manage the Kanwar Yatra and traffic flow.

The police have started making security arrangements ahead of Independence Day. The police commissioner has asked officials to maintain a cordial relationship with the public and help manage the Kanwar Yatra and traffic flow.

Police teams will visit malls and other key locations soon. Some officials also visited 9 malls on MG Road on Wednesday to review security. They also visited Galleria Market in DLF City inspected the place.

"Gurgaon police will tighten security ahead of August 15. We will maintain vigil at malls, bazaars, hotels and Metro stations," said police commissioner SS Deswal.

"The police will behave well with the public. Officials must change their approach. We also discussed traffic problems during Kanwar Yatra. We will ensure a safe yatra and smooth traffic," added Deswal.

After the recent serial blasts in Mumbai, the police won't take any chance. "We want to avoid all kinds of threats," he said.

According to him, Gurgaon police will meet their counterparts in neighbouring states to prevent terrorists from entering NCR.

According to the police commissioner, every entry and exit points in Gurgaon will be checked thoroughly so that militants can't trick authorities and enter the city to carry out strikes. Some residents say Metro stations need be guarded very well.
