Tight vigil after Lucknow clash

SECURITY HAS been beefed up in sensitive places in the city following the incident of communal flare -up, claiming the lives of four persons in Lucknow on Friday. Special attention is being paid to security of Gyanwapi complex. The intelligence personnel have been alerted to keep a close eye on suspicious persons in sensitive areas. Police, including central security personnel, patrolled sensitive places throughout the district today.

Besides, security was also beefed up in Jaitpura area where communal tension prevailed on Friday night following a clash between two groups of youths. Two youths had been injured in the clash. Local residents had also staged a demonstration outside the Jaitpura police station seeking arrest of the trouble-makers.

On Friday , a youth was being beaten up by a group of persons of a particular community. The uncle of the youth being beaten up somehow drove away the assailants. Soon, they came back with other people and attacked the shops and created panic in the area. On getting information, police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

Meanwhile, senior police officials, following the news of communal violence in Lucknow, rushed to the Gyanwapi complex and reviewed the security arrangements. Additional force was deployed on the complex. The cops patrolled all over the city even on Friday night to ensure peace in the city.

Red alert in Pratapgarh: A RED alert was sounded in Pratapgarh district in view of communal violence in Lucknow.
