According to information, the tigress had dragged the boy’s body to a long distance after the kill. However, when the villagers raised an alarm and reached near the spot the big cat left the body and disappeared in the dense forests.
Later, probably the same tigress killed a cow and injured a bull. Forest officials that reached the spot noticed pugmarks of the tigress accompanied by some smaller pugmarks believed to be of its cubs.
The Forest department has ordered the payment of compensation of a sum of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of the deceased boy. The DFO has also been instructed to pay compensation to the owners of the cow and bullock and also to take steps to prevent poisoning of the cow’s carcass by villagers.
