Mr S K Karvendan, elected from the Palani Lok Sabha constituency, which is about 425 km from Chennai, also received a death threat through an anonymous letter, the MP said from his residence this evening.

Mr. Karvendan had been demanding stern action against political outfits in the State like the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) who support the banned Tamil militant outfit, LTTE and who are again reviving their campaign in Tamil Nadu for a "separate Tamil Eelam State" in Northern Sri Lanka after a brief lull following the Mumbai terror attack. "It is possible that some militant outfits are behind the attack on my house," said Mr Karvendhan.

Even as the DPI has planned to hold a "pro-Eelam conference" in Chennai next week, the Chief Minister, Mr M Karunanidhi warned here this evening of severe action against those organizing activities in support of banned terrorist organizations.
