At an extraordinary executive council meeting of the Cauvery Delta Farmers Welfare Association, here, it was resolved to make a plea to their counterparts in Karnataka to persuade their Government on the rightful implementation of the award or verdict in the interest of all the riparian states.

The Cauvery issue did not warrant political influence or involvement, the meeting said.

The next round of talks with their Karnataka counterparts would be held in Bangalore on June 4 and 5. The earlier meeting was held at Chennai on April 4 and 5 and it went off smoothly, Association sources said, adding the farmers were never for confrontation and had come together to resolve the deadlock.

The sources said at the meeting in Bangalore, the Tamil Nadu delegation would point out the drinking water scarcity prevailing in Tamil Nadu.
