Toshiba launches home appliances

Toshiba launched a range of refrigerators, washing machines and microwave oven.

Bullish on the Indian consumer durables market, Japan's Toshiba Consumer Marketing Corporation on Wednesday launched a slew of products in the segment.

Toshiba launched its range of refrigerators, washing machines and microwave oven and these would be imported and would distribute them through dealers and distributors.

Retail sales would begin from Mumbai, the company said, adding it was also planning to launch vacuum cleaners, rice cookers and other products.

"Toshiba is coming with a massive plan of advertisement and promotion," Toshiba Consumer Marketing Corporation Country Manager Harry Fukimaki said.

He said India was an emerging market and offered high growth prospects in all areas of business.

"The current trend in Indian industry depicts a rapid shift towards high-end technologically advanced products which makes it the right time for Toshiba to launch the complete range of Toshiba white goods to meet the need of Indian consumers," Toshiba India Head for Home Appliances and IT Pranab Mohanty said.
