A procession from the Collectorganj market was taken out by the traders under the banner of Grain Merchants’ Association. In a novel method adopted by them, the traders took out a procession that was headed by a buffalo pulling a loader. This succeeded in attracting the passersby’s attention.
After traversing through several areas of the city, the procession reached Ghanta Ghar. Normal traffic flow at the busy Ghanta Ghar crossing was thrown out of gear leading to traffic jam for an hour.
Enraged traders vented their ire against Centre by shouting anti-government slogans and demanded immediate roll-back of the hike. Leading the procession, general secretary of the association Gyanesh Mishra accused the UPA government of triggering inflation by increasing the price of petrol and diesel.
“The immediate fallout of increase in petrol and diesel prices will be steep increase in prices of all essential commodities,” stated Mishra.
If the government wanted to escape common people’s wrath, it must immediately rollback the price hike, added Mishra.
