Uttar Pradesh Vyapar Mandal president Banwari Lal Kanchal said the prices of a number of commodities had increased so much in the recent past that the common man was finding it difficult to purchase even tomatoes and onions. They will also demand exemption from fringe benefit tax, tax on depositing and withdrawing money etc. Traders from all over the country are expected to participate in the protest.
A big rally at the national level will be planned in December in case the government fails to look into the demands of the trading community. Kanchal, who was here in the city on Sunday, to meet traders and listen to their grievances, expressed surprise over the continuance of inspector raj which had been done away with by the government.
No inspector has the right to visit any traders’ premises without the DM’s permission. It was brought to his notice that the government directives in this regard were being flouted and inspectors were still visiting traders without securing prior permission from the DM.
He said during his meeting with the CM in the State capital on Monday, he would request him to issue fresh directives to all the district headquarters that no inspector should visit any business establishment for enquiries without the DM’s permission.
He said he had noted down several other complaints of the traders and would make efforts to have the problems solved.
