Three people, including a Delhi Traffic Police constable, were killed in two separate road accidents.
On Tuesday morning, the traffic constable - who was later identified as Mahesh Anand (40) - was on his way to Todapur traffic line when his motorcycle was hit by a truck near Shastri Park. He died on the spot.
In another accident late on Monday night, an unidentified vehicle hit four members of a family who had come to Delhi from Seetapuri in Uttar Pradesh to attend a function in Seelampur.
One Kamini (65) and her grandchild Kanhaiya Lal (8) died on the spot, while two others were critically injured and rushed to a hospital for treatment.
"A Delhi Traffic Police constable was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a speeding truck in north east Delhi's Shastri Park on Tuesday. The driver of the killer truck has been arrested," confirmd Anil Shukla, additional CP (traffic).
Anand lived with his family at Bhajanpura. He was near Shastri Park metro station when the speeding truck rammed his motorcycle. "He was rushed to GTB Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," police said.
The locals overpowered the truck driver - identified as Alam, 22, a resident of Patparganj - and handed over to police. A case of rash driving that caused death by negligence has been registered with Seelampur police station.
Mahesh joined Delhi Police in 1993, and was with Traffic Police since June 2011.
