The city police on Wednesday launched a new e-challaning system to book traffic offenders.

Offenders will be booked with the help of a hand-held device, which would be linked to the central police server. The traffic police personnel can access all the required information about the vehicle and its owner.

“The system will also help in detecting stolen vehicles and identify fake driving licences, said police commissioner SS Deswal. The system will also help in checking corruption.
