Several trains were detained at different stations following the protest that began at 5.30 am at Jaleswar railway station, 40 kms from Balasore, officials said.

The merchants are pressing for the implementation of a 15-point charter of demands, including computerised reservation facilities at Jaleswar railway station and provision of extra sleeper class coaches in mail and express trains from the station.
