These sectors, which have been maintained by HUDA for decades, are Sector 3 extension, 4, 5, 6 (part), 7, 7 Extension, 9, 9A, 10, 10A, 12, 14, 15 (part 1&2), 17, 21, 22, 23, 23A, industrial estate 18, 47 and two urban estates. According to HUDA administrator Nitin K Yadav, the MCG would required to take care of the water supply, roads and sewerage lines network.

“We have received formal orders from the office of the chief engineer HUDA today (Wednesday). We would now start the formal process of the transfer of these sectors to MCG for maintenance. HUDA’s key role is to develop urban estates, maintain the same for five years and transfer them to the municipal corporation afterwards.”

However, as of now, HUDA has been maintaining these sectors for more than 10 years and also for more than two decades in cases such as Sector 4 and 7. Ideally, if HUDA maintains the sectors for more than 5 years, it is entitled to recover charges from the municipal corporation for the same. The decision on many other HUDA sectors such as 31, 40, 42, 46, 46, 55, 56 and 57 for transfer to MCG is yet to be taken and the process will start at a later stage.
