Tricksters dupe woman of jewellery

A TRICKSTER posing as a Baba and his female accomplice fooled a woman into parting with her gold ornaments worth Rs 75,000 in the name of getting her wish fulfilled.
The incident happened yesterday when Vimla (65) wife of Harishankar Sharma, a resident of Prakash Nagar, was on her way back home after visiting a temple. Near Ramesh and Ramesh club she was stopped by a woman who asked her about an address at Indrapuri.
Then the woman pretended to have known Vimla and started talking to her. Vimla, quite unsuspectingly, also kept on the conversation.
The woman told Vimla that the man with her was a holy man and he could fulfill any of her wishes. Vimla got quite convinced by what the woman said and asked the ‘holy’ man whether there was any means by which her childless nephew could become a father.
The man told her that to get her wish fulfilled she should hand him her gold jewellery she was wearing. She handed over her gold bangles, gold chain, ring and wristwatch to the man and he then gave the ornaments back to Vimla wrapped in a piece of paper.
All this while, his female accomplice kept on talking to Vimla to distract her attention. The ‘holy’ man then told Vimla that she should open the paper containing the jewellery the next morning only after offering pooja, otherwise her wish would not be fulfilled.
A gullible Vimla took the packet and went home. When she told her husband about the incident, he was convinced that her wife had been cheated.
However, she would not allow him to open the packet at first, but later when her opened the packet she saw that there were only two iron bangles in them.
They have lodged a complaint with the Bhanwarkuan police station.
