Terming its victory in Tripura as "endorsement" of the Left Front Government's performance, the CPI-M on Saturday said the people of the state had rejected the "unscrupulous" alliance between the Congress and the "extremist-backed" INPT.

"The Congress which had entered into an unprincipled and opportunist alliance with the extremist-backed INPT has been badly defeated," the CPI-M Polit Bureau said in a statement here.
It claimed that like in West Bengal, anti-incumbency factors did not operate since the Left Front Government headed by Manik Sarkar had "established its credentials".
The Party also paid homage to the 32 members and supporters killed by extremists during the election campaign.
