TVS ups the ante for tri-series

TVS motor company, the official sponsors of the ongoing tri-series, announced that an additional prize money of Rs 10 lakh would be given to the winning team.

TVS motor company, which has put up the TVS Cup for the winner of the ongoing trination one-day cricket series involving India, Australia and New Zealand, on Wednesday announced that an additional prize money of 20,000 dollars (Rs 10 lakh) would be presented to the winning team of the tri-series.

The company would also present a trophy and a cheque of Rs 35,000 for each man of the match and a sum of Rs 50,000 along with a trophy for the man of the series, its Vice- President (Marketing) Harish Krishnamachar said at a news conference here.

He described the design of the TVS Cup--which was unveiled at the news conferece-- as unique and said its form had been kept extremely simple and was made out of stainless steel with a natural finish.

Having backed the domestic challenger and Irani series, the company had announced that it would sponsor the Ranji trophy teams of Delhi and Tamilnadu, he said.

The company intended to play a significant role in cricket in India, he said.
