Sanjay Tak (36), a resident of Jammu, died near the cave shrine in Anantnag district this morning, the sources said.

They said Tak reached the cave shrine around 9 am. He complained of chest pain and collapsed. He was rushed to a makeshift hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Another pilgrim identified as Amit Patil (75), a resident of Madhya Pradesh, died of heart failure at Banihal while returning to Jammu.

The sources said the yatra was going on smoothly with over 5,000 pilgrims leaving the base camps of Nunwan and Baltal this morning.

While 3,518 pilgrims were allowed from Nunwan on traditional 46-km Pahalgam route, another batch of 1,648 pilgrims proceeded towards the cave from Baltal base camp on the shortest 12-km track to the cave, the sources said.
