Two confirmed cases of swine flu in TN: official

About 2.2 lakh people, who returned from abroad to various places in Tamil Nadu over the past few days, have been screened for swine flu and of these two persons have tested positive for the virus, a top health official on Tuesday said.

About 2.2 lakh people, who returned from abroad to various places in Tamil Nadu over the past few days, have been screened for swine flu and of these two persons have tested positive for the virus, a top health official on Tuesday said.

A 34-year-old woman and her five-year-old son, who had come from US to Coimbatore on May 28, had tested positive for the A(H1N1) virus, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Subburaj told reporters in Coimbatore.

The two are being treated at the Coimbatore Medical College Government Hospital and would be discharged in a couple of days, Subburaj said.

The official said serious measures are being taken to prevent the spread of flu in the state.
