The assailants attacked the Congress activists with bombs in Rentachintala village, about 350 km from Hyderabad. The deceased have been identified as Koti Reddy and Bakki Reddy.

Guntur District Superintendent of Police Shivdhar Reddy said TDP activists attacked the two as they were walking on a street. Old enmity between the two groups is believed to have led to the killings.

The incident caused tension in the area, notorious for factional fights between activists of the two parties.

Police have launched a massive hunt for the killers. Additional police reinforcements were sent to the area.

On Monday, one person was hacked to death in factional violence in Hyderabad. B Mohan Reddy, a native of Kurnool, was killed by six assailants. Mohan Reddy's wife has alleged that former legislator from Kurnool district B Parthasarthy Reddy was behind the murder.

Mohan Reddy was once a follower of the legislator but the two later developed differences. He had shifted to Hyderabad five years ago.
