Two hardcore criminals were killed in an encounter with police near Sikenderabad in Bulandsahar district on Saturday night.

The incident occurred when the criminals - Ram Pal and Ishan Pal - were going towards Sikandarabad in a motorcycle. When a police team signalled them to stop, they defied and tried to flee, Senior superintendent of police N Padmaja said.

When the police followed them, they (the duo) fired on the them, which was retaliated by the police. In the ensuing encounter, the criminals were killed, the SSP said.

Ram Pal was carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head and both were wanted in over two dozen cases, including murder and dacoity, sources said.
