Kalani Nagar resident Ajay Singh, son of late Ganpat Singh Patel, was cleaning the cupboard of his father, who died six months ago. While cleaning, he came across box, which he opened. He saw the gelatin rod wrapped in thin rope. His driver Champalal and nephew Navin (12) were also present in the room.
He asked Champalal to pull the rope. Sparks flew as Champalal pulled the rope. Petrified, he dropped it on the floor. The rod burst as result of being dropped on the ground and there was a loud noise.
Champalal and Naveen were injured even as the three rushed out of the room. The furniture in the room, including dressing table and cupboard were also damaged. Later, Ajay lodged a report with the police. He is a bus operator and owns farmland at Ahirkhedi.
Aerodrome Thana in-charge D S Ranawat said that the gelatin rod appeared more than 50 years old. He, however, ruled out a conspiracy stating that the incident occurred inside the house and the person who kept gelatin rod inside the box was dead. “Therefore no one could be suspected, specially when household members are involved in the incident,” he said.
