"Sannyashi Sardar (45) and Khokon Sardar (30) died on the spot and three others were injured when the clash broke out at Ghorai Kshetra village near Krishnagunj this afternoon," Additional Superintendent of Police, Annappa E told PTI.

Sharp weapons were used during the clash and a person was arrested in connection with the incident, he added.

There was a dispute among members of Sardar community over a piece of land for a village path and a grudge over kidnapping a girl three months ago, Annappa said.

TC MP and Union Minister of State for Shipping Mukul Roy rushed to the village to take stock of the situation.

"The state government and the police are reluctant to recover arms from the CPI-M goons. TC supporters are being killed across the state," Roy said.

He went to hospital to meet the injured persons, police said.

Meanwhile, CPI-M Nadia district leader S M Sadi said there was no politics behind the clash.
