TWO LOOT incidents took place within a space of four hours in the Heera Nagar police station area late on Sunday. Police suspect that the same people committed both loots.

Police sources said the first incident occurred at around 11.45 pm. Balram Nigam, who works as an electrician at the Velocity cinema hall, was going on his motorcycle towards his home in village Sakhia, Banganga. When he neared the railway crossing at MR-10 he was stopped by two armed men, also on a motorcycle. At knifepoint they snatched his mobile phone and Rs 325 in cash.
The other loot occurred at around 3 am. The victim, Jeevan Sharma, is a newspaper agent and owns the Sharma News Agency. He had left his home at 116, Old Gauri Nagar, to go to the newspaper depot on his motorcycle (MP-09-JM-1890) when two youths on a motorcycle accosted him and took his motorcycle, a ring, chain and Rs 2,000 in cash.
Sharma told police that he had recognised one of the accused as Kamlesh alias Banti. He said Banti used to work as a newspaper vendor under him and owed him Rs 60,000. He had filed a report in this regard with the Heera Nagar police station.
A meeting had also taken place between them on November 7 in this regard, but there was no solution. Interestingly, around 10 days ago Banti’s father Kallu had lodged a missing persons report at the Heera Nagar police station saying that his son was missing from his house. They came to know about it when police went searching for Banti at his house on Monday morning. Banti’s family claims that Jeevan Sharma owned them money.
Police suspect both loots were committed by Banti and his accomplice, since in both cases the victims’ description of the accused were similar. Police are looking for the stolen motorcycle also.
