Two militants were killed on Saturday in an encounter with security forces in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. On specific information about the presence of militants in Thak-Gund village in Sopore, a joint team of army and police began a search operation this morning, a police spokesperson said.

As the security forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding militants opened fire on them triggering an encounter in which two militants were killed.
The spokesperson said the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants were awaited as the search operation was still in progress.
