Two women in this Orissa capital were critically injured when a youth allegedly threw acid on them, police said.
"Two girls, Rashmirekha Behera, 23, and Kainath Ali, 21, suffered serious burn injuries following the attack. We have detained the person. We are trying to establish the motive behind attack," Deputy Commissioner of Police Amitendranath Sinha said.
The women were attacked while they were waiting for public transport near Imartidevi College in Bhubaneswar.
According to police, there is incoherence in the version of the attacker and he seems to have "weak mental faculties".
The girls are admitted in a hospital and are said to be out of danger.
