Armed Naxalites raided Telipenta village, about 550 km from Raipur, under Kutur police station and killed a Special Police Officer (SPO) and seriously injured a former Sarpanch among others besides setting on fire some houses, police said.

On information, when a police party was proceeding towards the spot, they were confronted by Naxalites and both were locked in a gunbattle in which six Maoists were killed, police said.

In another incident, a CRPF jawan was killed and another injured in pressure bomb blast in Narayanpur district, police sources said.

The incident took place near Godwinapal, about 350 km from Raipur, when a CRPF party was engaged in road clearance, which was blocked by the Naxalites by felling trees.

Both the CRPF jawans came in contact with the bomb. They were rushed to the nearby hospital, where one of them succumbed to injuries and another was shifted to Raipur for further treatment, police said.
