Two suspected naxals were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in the dense forest of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, CRPF officials said in New Delhi.
Acting on a tip off, a CRPF party on Wednesday night launched a search operation in the forest under Dharampur police station area where some naxalites were scheduled to meet.
"Seeing the CRPF jawans, they started firing which was retaliated by the security personnel. In the ensuing gunbattle, which lasted till this morning, two naxalites have been killed," a senior CRPF official said.
A combing operation has been launched in the area, the official said.
