"On a day when the nation is remembering late prime minister Indira Gandhi, I can send the message that the days of jati ke saudagaron (political traders of caste) are over and the Congress is set to romp to victory," he said.

He had earlier charged the NDA and RJD-LJP front of ruining the state by indulging in "politics of caste."

"I wish to appeal to all those who deserted the party in the recent past to return to the Congress fold and strengthen the organisation to rid the people of caste politics."

Tytler also remembered the contributions of Indira Gandhi in all sectors, including nuclear programme, generation of power, eradication of poverty and health and education and said the country's present progress and development on all these fronts was due to the programmes pursued by her.
