"With the globalisation of the Indian software and service industry there is an increased realisation to have a Nasscom presence in UK," Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said at the launch of the Chapter on Thursday.

"It aims to serve as the voice of Nasscom in UK and the adjoining region, raise awareness about Indian IT industry advantages and its high quality image," Karnik said.

"The Chapter will work closely with the Indian High Commission in London to resolves issues and concerns that act as an impediment in the growth of our member companies in the region," he said.

Stating that it was "illusionary" to point out that outsourcing in India led to job losses, Karnik said that most foreign companies which outsourced in India had improved their efficiency and profits which enabled them to win more contracts and thereby provide more jobs.
