The British government said it believes terrorists may be in the final stages of planning attacks in the central Philippines, where Asian leaders are meeting next week.
A travel advisory posted on the British Embassy website advised British nationals to avoid travel to Cebu province "as we believe that terrorists are in the final stages of planning attacks."
The warning, updated yesterday, came as Philippine security officials said they have not discovered any specific terror threats against the summit of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations, but said they could not discount them.
