The doctor was also found practising medicine for the last 11 years on the basis of a provisional BUMS degree.

These irregularities came to light when additional director (health), Allahabad division, Dr SK Srivastava conducted a surprise inspection of the clinic on Friday.
Some residents had complained to the health department about serious irregularities at the clinic following which the AD conducted the inspection.

“The property on which the clinic is running is owned by a government doctor, R Srivastava. He is currently posted in Sultanpur. He was running the clinic in the name of he Unani doctor to avoid getting his own name exposed. It was shocking to see that the Unani doctor and a compounder, Sunil Kumar, were prescribing allopathic medicines to patients. Two medical stores were also running outside the clinic with a large number of people purchasing medicines from them,” Dr Srivastava said.

He further said there was a complaint that a government doctor was running a private clinic and hospital in Pratapgarh area, which was managed by a Unani doctor. However, the real culprit could not be contacted still, he added.

“Recommendations will be made to the government to take strict action against all these people,” he added.
