Constable Rajvir Singh (40) was killed as the Scorpio car ran over him while he tried to prevent the escape of Rajwir Singh alias Changa, who was arrested in connection with a fake currency case, police said.

Arrested last month, he was admitted to Government Rajindra Hospital on December 4 with leg injury.

Early morning, three unidentified men entered the hospital premises and tried to escape with Singh. While the constable tried to prevent the escape he was knocked down by the vehicle, killing him on the spot.

DSP (city II) Kesar Singh said police were conducting raids at various places in the town to nab the undertrial.
