As many as 52,910 students are appearing in the High School examination and 42,601 students in the Intermediate examination in the district this year. There are 51,322 regular candidates and 1,588 private candidates in the High School examination. Besides, 41,172 regular and 1429 private students are appearing in the Intermediate examination in the district.Five flying squads were on duty to ensure that students did not use unfair means. Five zonal magistrates and thirteen sector magistrates were keeping a close vigil.

The examination will continue till April 10. Videography of hyper-sensitive centres was conducted. The Hindi (first paper) was slated for Saturday, for both High School and Intermediate students.

The High School examination was conducted in the morning session and the Intermediate exam in the evening session. The Arya Mahila Inter College, the Rambaba Inter College (Sindhora), the Gram Vidyapeeth Inter College (Gadkhara), the Veer Lorik Inter College (Mohanv), the Baba Damondev Inter College (Daanganj), the Laxmi Shankar Inter College (Rajwari), the Kalika Dham Inter College (Sewapuri), the Gangapur Inter College (Gangapur), the Bhawani Prasad Inter College (Dangaria) and the City Montessori Inter College (Sarainanadan) were among the centres declared hyper-sensitive.

Mirzapur :As many as 53,000 examinees appeared in the high school and intermediate examinations at 90 centres in the district. Despite the administration’s claims, centres in remote areas proved a haven for copycats. However, some ‘tainted’ centres took all precautions to improve their image. Six flying squads kept a close watch on all 10 sensitive centres. Six of these centres are in Sadar tehsil, three in Chunar tehsil and one in Marihan tehsil.

Though DIOS Farhana Siddiqui said the examinations had begun peacefully at all the centres, a majority of the examinees were happy as they got all the facilities (of copying) at their self- centres.

Bahraich : AS MANY as 48,418 students were appearing for the UP Board High School and Intermediate examinations in Bahraich and Shrawasti. The examinations began on Saturday.Talking to HT, acting district inspector of school Manoj Kumar Devedi said 2,5091 students were appearing in the High School and 12604 students in the Intermediate examinations in Bahraich.

Similarly, 6492 and 4181 students were appearing in Shrawasti in the High School and Intermediate examinations, respectively. Sixty-two examination centers have been set up in the district out of which six are exclusively for girls.

Tardy cops spell woes for exam officials : OFFICIALS IN charge of the UP Board examinations had to face a tough time at most centres on the first day on Saturday due to late arrival of policemen. The policemen were supposed to reach the centres half-an-hour in advance to frisk candidates. Additional superintendent of police Rampal Singh had given the assurance that all policemen would arrive half-an-hour before the examinations began.

However, around 7.45 am on Saturday, a mob surrounded a co-educational inter college at Mitra Maadhav in Mahmudabad tehsil. They were able to do so as there were no policemen there. A few years ago, miscreants had set this centre afire when they were prevented from helping students resorting to unfair means.

The principal and the staff had to take shelter in a village at that time.
