Delhi High Court judge RC Jain said that except for collecting the documents, the interim order in all other matters relating to the case would continue. The court had earlier restrained the Uttar Pradesh police from probing the case.
Wednesday's order came after the Uttar Pradesh Police contended that it had an altogether different report on the incident and its line of investigation and the accused were different from the ones booked by the Delhi Police.
The counsel for Delhi Police opposed this on the ground that the alleged tapping had occurred in the Capital and that Delhi Police had already booked and arrested the accused involved in the case.
There cannot be two investigations of an incident, the Delhi Police contended.
The court also reserved judgment on two separate petitions by Delhi Police and Anurag Singh, one of the accused, urging the court to stop the Uttar Pradesh Police from investigating the case.
