The meeting will also give approval for the proposal of funding of the Anpara-D power project by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
THE UTPADAN Nigam’s board of directors at its meeting on Thursday will give its nod to the high-level committee’s recommendations for awarding the contract to Lanco Kondapalli for setting up the Anpara-C power project. The meeting will also give approval for the proposal of funding of the Anpara-D power project by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC).

The board’s approvals will be sent to the Energy Task Force and then to the State Cabinet for final clearance.
The high-level committee, headed by the principal secretary (Energy), has recommended the name of the Lanco Kondapalli, a private company, for giving the contract of setting up the 1,000 MW Anpara-C thermal power project. The company had qualified the technical and financial bids a few months ago, beating its rivals the Reliance Energy Ltd and the Essar Power.
The Nigam has already got a detailed project report prepared for setting up Rs 5,000 crore Anpara-D thermal project of 500 MW. The PFC has agreed to give the loan for the project to be set up under the public sector.
UPTC starts functioning The UP Transmission Corporation (UPTC), a new company created by the State Government a few months ago, has started functioning though it is still to have its own board of directors. Till now, the UPPCL was doing the transmission work as well.
The entity will be responsible to transmit electricity from the generating powerhouses to the 132 KV transmission sub-stations. It will manage the load dispatch centres.
