V-C watches plays, fetes teachers

Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) acting vice chancellor Rajkamal formally inaugurated the one act play event staged at the University auditorium and felicitated the cultural committee members on the occasion on Thursday.

Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Maya Ingle said that the one act play saw the participation of six teams from Khalsa, Ranjit Singh, IPS, MKHS, Vaishnav Commerce and Management Colleges.

The V-C inaugurated the event at 10 am and along with other senior functionaries of the DAVV saw the plays to boost the morale of the participants. Cultural committee members HK Jain of ILVA College, Ashutosh Mishra Physics UTD, GS Gill of Khalsa College, Shobha Chaturvedi of New Science College and Manoj Padia of MKHS Gujrati Girls College were also felicitated for their efforts in drafting and organising the activities forming a integral part of the youth festival.

Of the three fine arts events staged on Thursday, the remaining two — cartooning and on the spot panting — were held at Nutan Girls College and New GDC respectively. The cartooning event on the topic ‘nouveau riche from windfall profit’ was held from 11 am.

The event saw the participation of six colleges, including New GDC, GACC, Vaishnav Management, Gujarati Science, Kasturbagram and Sri Cloth Market Institute of Professional Studies (SCMIPS).

On the spot painting competition held from 12.30 pm on the topic of ‘ragging’ saw the participation of 10 colleges, including the host New GDC, Old GDC, Holkar Science, SCMIPS, GACC, Government College Mhow, Renaissance College, Christian Eminent, Kasturbagram, IPS and Gujarati Science College.

Fine art and dance events would be held on Friday. The events being held at IMS include skit from 10 am, mime from 12 pm and mimicry from 2 pm. The events being held at New GDC include collage from 11 am and poster making from 2 pm. The dance competitions would be held at Kasturbagram, including classical dance (solo) from 10 am, folk dance from 12 pm, ‘tal vadya’ solo percussion from 2 pm and ‘swar vadya’ non-percussion from 3 pm.
