“As Gautam Buddha Nagar was declared drought-affected area, the state government decided to provide mid-day meal to school children during summer vacations. Students had to come to school and collect their meal,” BSA Dharamvir Singh said.

“Survey of schools revealed that less than six per cent students were coming for the meals. Data from the NGO which supplies midday meal, too, revealed less than 10 per cent turnout. We have written to the government recommending closure of the scheme,” he added.
