Vadodara clashes: Toll mounts to 5

Demolition of a 200-yr-old dargah by civic authorities had sparked violence which claimed four lives on Monday.

One person was killed in police firing and two were injured in clashes early on Tuesday morning, taking the death toll in the violence to five, police said.

Police fired at a rioting mob at around 2 am in Moti Vohrawaad area, killing one person, while two others sustained injuries in mob clashes, they said.

Terming the situation as "comparatively calm", the authorities decided to relax curfew for two hours in the afternoon in Raopura and Panigate areas and for two hours in the evening at Wadi and Karelibaug.

The demolition of a more than 200-year-old dargah by civic authorities had sparked widespread violence on Monday, which initially claimed four lives.
