City-based Ramila Chunara and Ramila Damor, who hail from Navadiya village of Dohad district, had given birth to a girl and a boy respectively in the hospital on May 30, they said.

However, due to identical first names of the two women, a staff member mistook Chunara for Damor and handed over the boy to her for breastfeeding, and gave the girl to the latter.

The incident came to light as medical records kept in the delivery room pointed out the real mothers of the two babies, following which doctors asked the two families to swap them.
