Two marriages were performed after consent from the couples, amidst traditional Hindu rituals at the VHP office in Koti in Hyderabad. However, A Keshava Raju, VHP’s state organising secretary told PTI, that the marriages were not conducted forcibly.

He said that two couples from the state capital were married off in the city, while a couple in Nizamabad district were also married off.

“We have performed marriages legally and traditionally as the young lovers had threatened to committ suicide after their parents refused for their marriage,” Raju claimed adding that “We helped them in getting married when they approached Bajrang Dal.”

“We are not opposed to love and love-marriages. But the pub-culture and Valentine’s Day celebrations are not part of Hindu culture. But there is a growing trend of obscenity through pub-culture and Valentine’s Day,” he said.
