Vande Mataram sung with patriotic fervour

THE CENTENARY of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s Vande Mataram was celebrated at Government offices including Vallabh Bhavan, Satpura Bhavan and Vindhyachal Bhavan in Bhopal on Thursday.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan leading Government officials and employees sung the national song at Vallabh Bhavan at 11 am. Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni and senior administrative officers, secretaries to the Chief Minister and other Government servants along with the Chief Minister sang the national song in unison.
Congress party’s Seva Dal activists also observed Thursday as Vande Mataram Day. At the State Congress headquarters at Indira Bhavan, Leader Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi unfurled the national tricolour and then Congress office-bearers, Seva Dal workers and employees of the Congress office sang the national song.
At Raj Bhavan secretary to Governor Dr Balram Jakhar, Bhupal Singh led officials and employees in singing the song. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists organised rallies at different mandals of party sporting BJP flags and raising ‘Bharat mata ki jai slogans’.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also participated in the singing of Vande Mataram at the BJP office where he and the State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki offered flowers to a portrait of Bharat Mata.
Leaders who took part in the programme included Sunderlal Patwa, Vikram Verma, Anil Dave, Arvind Menon, Narayan Prasad Gupta, Jaishree Banerjee, Tapan Bhowmick, Raghavji Bhai, Jayant Malaiya, Surendra Nath Singh, Omprakash Dhruve, Brijendra Pratap Singh and several others.
The song was also recited at the CM’s official residence where his wife Sadhna Singh, Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Meena Singh, MLA Ranjana Baghel, officers and employees participated.
Shiv Sena activists organised a programme at their State office at Bhavani Chowk where state unit president Suresh Rathore garlanded the portrait of Bharat Mata and district president Mangilal Soni unfurled the saffron flag.
BJYM activists after taking out rallies converged at Roshanpura Square where the district BJP unit had organised a programme.
Addressing the gathering, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar said the song had inspired lakhs and lakhs of Indians during the freedom struggle and a number of freedom fighters sacrificed their lives singing this song.
At Vidhan Sabha secretariat, secretaries Bhagwandeo Israni and Kazi Aqulimuddin led secretariat officials and employees in singing the song at 11 am. At Speaker Ishwardas Rohani’s residence officials and employees led by DP Dubey sang the song at 11 am.
At DPR secretary and commissioner Public Relations Manoj Shrivastava led officials and employees to sing the national song. At Gandhi Medical College dean Dr MK Saraswat, heads of departments and other doctors in presence of the Medical Education Minister Ajay Vishnoi attended the programme.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to make most of the occasion politically by organising programmes to sing the song in unison at several places. The BJP rural unit, Bhopal activists held the programme under the chairmanship of the unit president Bhagirath Patidar.
The BJP organised programmes at all its 54 organisational districts and BJYM activists took out Vande Mataram rallies at all 584 mandals of the State.
Sarafa Association of Bhopal organised a Vande Mataram function. Association president Kailash Agrawal, secretary Chandramohan Agrawal and other office-bearers of the association were present.
