Vanlalzawma, candidate of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) and Dr.Laltluangliana Khiangte, nominee of the three opposition combine, today filed their nominations to contest the lone Lok Sabha seat here.

They were the only candidates to file their nominations from Mizoram so far for the Lok Sabha polls to be held on April 20.

The BJP state unit and the JDU had earlier announced that they would not be contesting the state parliamentary seat, but support the ruling MNF candidate as the MNF had already joined the NDA.

Meanwhile, MNF sources told PTI that the party candidate for the by-poll to Kolasib assembly seat would be announced on Monday.

Both Vanlalzawma and Khiangte were lecturers by profession and the former was the member of the recently dissolved Lok Sabha.
