Vishwa Hindu Parishad patron Ashok Singhal was shifted to a private hospital in Gurgaon after he complained of breathlessness on Tuesday night.

Singhal was in the city for Navratri puja and complained of breathlessness while performing ‘hawan’. Doctors told Singhal’s secretary said that his condition was stable though he was under constant observation.
The doctors said that Singhal was suffering from pneumonia.
Singhal served as the international working president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for over 20 years until he was replaced with Praveen Togadia in December 2011.
Having been in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 1942, Singhal became a full-time ‘pracharak’ after graduation and has worked at various locations in the state. In 1980, he was deputed to the VHP becoming its joint general secretary. In 1984, he became VHP general secretary and later its working president, a post that he held till 2011.
