"If elected representatives do not satisfy the promises made in their election manifesto then voters should have right to recall him," Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Convenor Jayesh Thali told PTI.

The samiti which has taken up voters awareness campaign in Goa and Maharashtra ahead of Lok Sabha polls along with like-minded organisations like Sanatan Sanstha and Divya Jagruti trust has began making people aware about their right to recall the elected representatives.

"We have no confidence motions in Assembly, municipality and panchayats then why can't voter enjoy the same right?," he asked.

Thali said that voters, after electing their representative, are left helpless. "Parliament should enact a legislation giving such right to the voters," he added.

Similar views were expressed by the CBCI which had resolved that electorate should have right to recall their elected representatives on grounds of non performance or corruption.
