VS in fray because of public support
Veteran CPI-M leader VS Achuthanandan on Thursday said the party politburo reversed its earlier decision and fielded him for the coming Assembly elections in Kerala as it took the "sentiments" of the public and the party rank and file into account.
The media had also played a role in prompting the party to review the decision regarding his candidature for the Assembly polls, he told reporters.
Asked to comment on CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan's remark that reporters were ignorant of the party's decision-making process, Achuthanandan said Vijayan was not "anti-media."
Vijayan did not denounce the media when he said that, the party veteran said.
The UDF was calling him "anti-development" because he had opposed "plundering of public assets in the name of development and promoting mafia culture," he alleged.
