Some lawyers and activists of Shiv Sena led by its leader, Gulshan Kapoor, got angry soon after having a glimpse of the accused and started raising slogans against Pakistan and terrorism.
They also made an abortive attempt to beat the accused but DSP, TN Tripathi, escorting the accused with heavy police force foiled the attempt of demonstrators and took him to the court quickly and later to jail on the directive of court.
Some people also pelted stones on the police vehicle in which the accused was being shifted to jail.
It may be noted that Waliullah was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) at Gosaiganj in Lucknow on April 5. He had been lodged in Lucknow jail along with five others.
The investigating officer of case in Varanasi, had urged the court in Lucknow to shift the accused on Transit Remand here in connection with the twin bomb blasts.
The accused was brought to Varanasi by road amid tight security and lodged in the lock up of Cantonment police station in the wee hours on Thursday.
At around 12 noon, he was taken to the Court. Elaborate security arrangements had been made in and around the court following the association of the accused with HUJI terrorist outfit of Bangladesh backed by ISI.
As people came to know that the accused of bomb blasts had been brought to the court, they got furious and tried to surround the police team, taking the accused.
Soon, cops swung into action and urged the people to let them do their official work.
The local police also urged the court to take the statement of the accused in the jail in connection with bomb blasts and recovery of pressure cooker bomb in Dashwaswamedh area on March 7.
The court accepted the application. The police would also urge the court to take the accused on custodial remand for further interrogation.
