THE ALLAHABAD High Court on Friday transferred from Varanasi to Ghaziabad three criminal trials of Walliullah, the main accused in the Varanasi serial bomb blast case.

The blasts had taken place at Sankatmochan temple, Cant Railway Station while one bom was defused in Godowlia area in Varanasi. During investigation, Waliullah was found to have masterminded the serial blasts. Thus, three sessions trials were pending against him at the district court, Varanasi. The transfer application was filed on behalf of Waliullah on the ground that counsels were not available at Varanasi to defend him.
In this context, he had annexed in his petition a resolution passed by the Central Bar Association of Varanasi, asking the lawyers not to defend Waliullah in the court proceedings.
Besides, he had pleaded that there was danger to his life in Varanasi. Today’s order was passed by Justice Shiv Shanker after hearing the applicant’s counsel Vinay Saran and State counsel.
To recall, three sessions trials were pending before the court of Special Judge, EC Act, relating to Varanasi’s serial bomb blast case. Several persons had died in the blasts. During investigation, it was found that Waliullah, a resident of Phulpur in Allahabad, was the mastermind behind these blasts. On behalf of the State, it was contended that there were many witnesses in this case so it would not be feasible for them to go to any other district to depose their testimony before the court.
However, with today’s order, all the three sessions trials pending at Varanasi, have been transferred to Ghaziabad.
Bail granted: The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Rameshwar Chaudhari and Mahatam Chaudhari charged with cruelty and abetment of suicide to their daugher-in-law, Saraswati, along with her two kids.
